This advanced level three-week course explores agreements and licences used in arts practice and how to negotiate for your rights. The course will examine contracts, what to look out for, how to negotiate, and what you can do in the event of a dispute. This is for artists who have a basic understanding of contracts and need to develop skills in negotiating and a more advanced understanding of contractual rights and obligations. You will have access to best practice resources from Arts Law to develop your toolkit: a commissioning agreement, an agency/gallery agreement and copyright licence.
This is an advanced course, if you an unfamiliar with contractual terms and concepts, it is recommended that you undertake the introductory course - Arts Contracts for Beginners. Please be aware this course does not provide tailored legal advice for artists, but rather provides you will skills and resources to apply to your own context.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Participants are able to cancel their registration up to 7 days prior to the course start date by contacting NAVA. If cancellation occurs during the 7 days prior to the start date participants will be charged a 10% cancellation fee. There are no refunds for cancellation once the course has started.
For example
NAVA Online Courses are in high demand and there will be no refunds of course registration fees once the course has started. Participants are expected to notify NAVA if they no longer wish to continue the course after the course start date.
If participants do not notify NAVA that they wish to cancel their participation, and simply do not complete set tasks and activities they will not receive a refund or an acknowledgement of course participation.
