The peak body protecting and promoting the Australian visual arts sector

Let's Talk

A series of NAVA and Artspace Sydney hosted ‘town hall’ style public discussions exploring current issues affecting the S2M arts sector.

Let's Talk

On Monday 30 May, organisations, colleagues, artists, and independent practitioners who have been affected by the recent Australia Council funding announcements were invited to air their concerns, listen to those affected, and discuss how this would affect our sector.

The discussion was facilitated by artist and co-host of FBi's Canvas program, Nat Randall, and speakers included Michael Lynch, Janet Laurence, Esther Anatolitis - Regional Arts Victoria, Ross Harley - UNSW Art & Design, Evan Hughes - Labor candidate for Wentworth, NSW, Alexie Glass-Kantor - Artspace, Tamara Winikoff OAM - NAVA, and Katrina Douglas - PACT.

Let's Talk Art Futures

This event took further the issues raised at last month's ‘Let's Talk’, and looked at what actions to take in the lead up to and after the election.

Speakers included: Dr Paula Abood, Vernon Ah Kee, Bec Dean, Abdul Abdullah, and Barry Keldoulis.

Top tip from Vernon Ah Kee 'the time to make nice art is over'.

Let's Talk CAO

A conversation with the Directors of Contemporary Art Organisations (CAO) from across Australia that focused on how we should value the small to medium sector. This sector makes a significant contribution to expanding artists careers, engaging audiences and developing new works and should not be overlooked.

Let’s Talk was facilitated by Blair French, Director, Curatorial & Digital, MCA, Alexie Glass-Kantor, Executive Director, Artspace and Chair, CAO, and Brianna Munting, Deputy Director, NAVA
