Emily Crockford: Hi, I'm Emily Crockford. That's my real name. My work is I love to do crazy patterns and beautiful, colorful.

QUESTION: WHAT HAS BEEN A TURNING POINT IN YOUR CAREER?

Gabrielle Mordy: So, do you wanna tell us what was something exciting that happened last year that made you quite famous?
Emily: I did Daddy with the daisies, with the planes for the Archibald.
Gabrielle: So you became a finalist in the Archibald?
Emily: I became a finalist in the Archibald. Yes, I did so well.
Gabrielle: Do you wanna tell us about that painting? Why it was special?
Emily: It's special and very very hard with me and my mom. Yeah.
Gabrielle: And why did you decide to paint your dad last year?
Emily: I just remember him. So watching him on making, making some planes.
Gabrielle: Because your dad, your dad passed away last year?
Emily: Passed away last year but I miss him so much.
Gabrielle: So it was a particularly special painting.
Emily: It was a special painting. 

QUESTION: HOW DID YOU DEVELOP YOUR OWN STYLE OF ART?

Emily: That's a tricky question.
Gabrielle: What's your style Em?
Emily: Style of crazy patterns and like my style of my designs.
Gabrielle: How did you become such a crazy pattern artist?
Emily: I just do crazy patterns I just mention they're crazy like patterns of rainbows.
Gabrielle: You looked at other artists that inspire you?
Emily: It inspires me, but different artists.
Gabrielle: You just do it all the time.
Emily: I do it all the time.
Gabrielle: I remember many years ago when you first showed me your your artist sketchbooks and you just had so many of them.
Emily: Yeah. Got so many of them.
Gabrielle: And you obviously just drew all the time.
Emily: And I drew all the time. Yeah.

QUESTION: HOW CAN YOUNG PEOPLE BECOME ARTISTS?
 
Emily: Look at different styles. Yeah.
Gabrielle: They've gotta get their own style?
Emily: Their own style.
Gabrielle: How do you get your own style?
Emily: Everyone's got different designs. Yeah.
Gabrielle: So they should, should they practice their own designs?
Emily: They practice their own images.

QUESTION: WHY DO YOU MAKE ART?

Gabrielle: How does making art feel?
Emily: Feel happy, enjoy.
Gabrielle: And are there other good things about making art?
Emily: I just love art.
