This AusArt Day, support NAVA’s work to improve conditions for artists and arts workers.
NAVA is a Membership organisation that brings together the many voices of the contemporary arts sector through advocacy, education and the Code of Practice for Visual Arts, Craft and Design (the Code). Donations help NAVA do this work independently and nationally.
There is a lot to advocate for. Artists and arts workers need to be paid properly for their work and have access to superannuation and appropriate workplace protections. NAVA is currently advocating on industrial and tax reforms, and on artists’ copyright and moral rights as governments consider how Australian law should respond to AI. NAVA also advocates for recognition and protection of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and more.
The Code sets out good practice for working relationships, access and inclusion, and payment rates for artists and arts workers. Where issues are not covered by law, it provides standards for negotiating contracts, agreements, terms and conditions, as well as accepted business protocols and ethical expectations across the sector. Donations help NAVA keep the Code current, develop practical guidance and advocate for its use.
NAVA is also investing in a long-term pathway for First Nations leadership within the organisation, with a dedicated role in First Nations Policy and Advocacy.
NAVA does this work throughout the year, AusArt Day is a prompt to help fund it.
The National Association for the Visual Arts is a deductible gift recipient (DGR) registered with the Australian Taxation Office, covered by Item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. Donations are tax deductible.

The NAVA Board, staff and community is based across hundreds of sovereign nations and unceded lands throughout the continent that have become colonially known as Australia. NAVA pays our deepest respects to all Traditional Owners, Custodians, and knowledge-holders of the unceded lands on which we live, learn, and work.
NAVA acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first artists and makers on this continent, and pays respect to First Nations communities' Ancestors and Elders.
Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
