Will my NAVA insurance cover lost income and other impacts of COVID-19?

Be assured that NAVA is advocating at both state and federal levels for urgent support in both the short and long term, so that we are all best placed to survive and thrive through this period.

Unfortunately NAVA's Members' insurance package does not cover loss of income due to cancellation of work and other impacts of COVID-19.

NAVA's insurance policy only provides cover for your legal liability. While it does offer an income replacement mechanism, this is limited to cases where you are injured and cannot work due to this injury.

The Personal Accident insurance that is included in NAVA's Premium Plus Membership is not a replacement for health insurance, life insurance or travel insurance, and does not cover cases where the insured is unable to work due to sickness.

In regards to the Public & Products Liability policy, this covers you if your negligence causes bodily injury or property damage to others. This means that the policy would respond to any claims alleging negligence on your part, in relation to COVID-19 or the spread of any contagious or infectious bacteria, virus or disease, subject to all other existing policy terms, conditions and exclusions.

Again, this does not assist you with any lost income as a result of closures and cancellations due to the current health threat.

NAVA is currently investigating options for extending our Members' insurance package to provide some assistance in these types of unforeseen crisis. We know how important this is to our Members. We will keep you updated as this work develops.
