Knowing your worth as an artist is important. With rising costs of living, equipping yourself with the knowledge to be able to price and value your time appropriately is key to sustaining creative practice and work.
In this workshop, NAVA will walk through the minimum standards for artist fees and wages in the new Code of Practice for Visual Arts, Craft and Design (the Code). This resource, endorsed by the Australian Government as part of National Cultural Policy - Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place, sets out equitable, ethical and self-reflective standards for the professional Australian contemporary arts sector.
Participants will walk away understanding how the Code can be used as both a map and self-advocacy tool to advocate for fair pay and working conditions.
This is a free workshop presented by Emma Pham (NAVA) and Coffs Harbour artist Jeremy Sheehan.
Arts Mid North Coast is the peak regional arts and cultural development organisation for the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales. We service the five local government areas of Port Macquarie-Hastings, Kempsey, Nambucca Valley, Bellingen and Coffs Harbour on the traditional lands of the Biripi, Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr Nations.
We are an independent not for profit organisation supported by Create NSW and Mid North Coast Local Governments and are part of a network of 15 Regional Arts Development Organisations (RADOs) in NSW.
As the peak arts organisation for our region, we support and collaborate with government, communities, organisations, business and individuals to build capacity and create opportunities for the arts and creative industries.
Our vision is to grow the Mid North Coast as a vibrant and diverse region that embraces the creation, understanding and appreciation of the arts in fostering economic, community, cultural and environmental opportunities and benefits.
