NAVA's Georgia Mokak presents on the NAVA Code of Practice at Empowering Artists for the Future: Professional Development Forum hosted by the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance, The Gallery, Coffs Harbour NSW, 9am-5pm AEDT, 24 March 2025.

Join NAVA at Empowering Artists for the Future: Professional Development Forum hosted by the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance (SWFWAA).

This free event brings together a diverse group of First Nations artists for a day of workshops, panels, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering professional growth and collaboration within the First Nations creative community.

This year's forum will feature Alison Williams (Artist & Creative Director Yarrawarra), Arts Law Solicitor and Jo-Anne Driessens (Artists in the Black), Georgia Mokak (NAVA First Nations OutreachCoordinator), and Rachel Piercy (Manning Reginal Gallery). The speakers are renowned experts in areas such as; creating artist bios, licencing and copywrite, gallery expectations of work, and pricing.

With a focus on practical strategies and understanding, the forum will offer valuable insights for artists looking to expand their careers, navigate the art world, and connect with peers and mentors.

Complimentary to the Monday event, Georgia Mokak will also provide bespoke one on one sessions for First Nations creatives from 10am - 3pm on Tuesday 25th March in the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance office boardroom at 8 Park Avenue Coffs Harbour. These private sessions will go for 30 mins. Up to 10 sessions available, bookings essential.

Access

For this event, The Gallery has accessible access, including entry to The Gallery and ground-floor toilets. However, please note that the second-floor Board Room is only accessible via stairs. This event has not been set up with additional accessibility supports such as Auslan interpreters, or screens.

  • Clear entry and exit points are available, but stair access is required for the second floor.
  • Seating is flexible, and wheelchair users will have space available on the ground floor.
  • No additional sensory-friendly adjustments, quiet areas, or assistive listening devices have been arranged.
