In partnership with PICA and AACHWA, the National Association of Visual Artists (NAVA) is delivering a professional development session for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists and arts workers.
This one-hour session introduces NAVA’s Code of Practice, explaining what it is, how to use it effectively and how artists can benefit from it.
This talk will be led by NAVA’s First Nations Outreach Coordinator, Georgia Mokak, a Djugun person from Broome.
NAVA’s Code of Practice serves as a map for ensuring the sector is a collaborative, creative, inclusive and equitable place for current and future artists. It is an important advocacy tool to support policy and legislative change for the benefit of the arts sector.
This talk is free and open to artists, arts-workers and those who work in advocacy roles.
Time: 11am – 12pm
Date: Friday 17 April
Location: Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), Perth Cultural Centre, WA
The main entrance to PICA and alternative entry via Picabar are wheelchair accessible. All levels of the PICA building and gallery spaces are accessible via lift. For more information on accessibility, visit PICA's access and facilities webpage.
Revealed: New and Emerging WA Aboriginal Artists is an annual arts event that celebrates the diversity, talent and vibrancy of Aboriginal arts practice in Western Australia.
Visit NAVA's stall at the The Revealed Art Market 2026 on Saturday 18 April, hosted by WA Museum Boola Bardip.
Now in its 18th year, and its third year under the custodianship of the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of WA (AACHWA), Revealed is a vital platform for Aboriginal artists, many from remote and regional communities, to share their stories and connect with new audiences.
Both the art market and the exhibition offer a rare opportunity to purchase original artworks directly from art centres and independent artists, with proceeds from artwork sales supporting artists and their communities.
Events are free and all are welcome.
NAVA will be available to chat about the Code of Practice, guides and resources.
Time: 9:30am – 5pm
Date: Saturday 18 April
Location: WA Museum Boola Bardip, Perth Cultural Centre, WA
This venue is wheelchair accessible. For more information on accessibility, visit the WA Museum accessibility webpage.
As the custodians of Revealed, AACHWA respectfully acknowledges the Whadjuk People of the Noongar Nation as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which Revealed is held. AACHWA extends its acknowledgement to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of this country and its waters.
We wish to pay respect to the Elders past and present and extend this to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Art and storytelling have been practised by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on these lands for tens of thousands of years, and we at AACHWA are privileged to be able to promote, empower and connect Aboriginal artists and art centres across the region.
This always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
