NAVA extends our heartfelt gratitude and wishes her the best in her new role.
After almost five impactful years at NAVA, Georgie Cyrillo is leaving the organisation to take up a new role at the intersection of copyright and AI.
"I've been continually impressed by Georgie's capacity to navigate complex strategic issues with both concern and clarity," said Executive Director Penelope Benton. "Her ability to approach challenges thoughtfully and develop innovative solutions has been invaluable to our team. Georgie's dedication to our mission and her collaborative approach have made a lasting impact on NAVA. On behalf of the entire NAVA team I extend my heartfelt gratitude and wish her the very best in her new role. NAVA is undoubtedly stronger because of her leadership and contributions."
Some of the highlights of Georgie’s work at NAVA include supporting members and the membership team, developing NAVA’s Action Plan 2023-2025, collaborating on the revision of Payment Standards in NAVA’s Code of Practice for Visual Arts, Craft and Design, administering and advocating for change within the members’ group insurance package, driving new work on digital system changes, developing NAVA’s Code of Practice online courses and leading advocacy work on the impacts of AI on artists’ copyrighted materials.
“NAVA has altered the way I approach work. Soon after being hired at NAVA in 2019 came the devastation of the 2019-20 bushfires, COVID-19, and increased sector precarity, and through it all I saw my colleagues pour themselves into action and support mode,” said Deputy Director Georgie Cyrillo. “I feel acutely lucky to have learned about advocacy and care from some of the best people I know. While I’m sad to be leaving, it feels like the right time to make space for new perspectives. NAVA will undoubtedly continue to thrive.”
Georgie’s last day with NAVA is Friday 16 August 2024. She will be succeeded by a newly redefined position of General Manager at NAVA. Applications for this role are open until 10 August 2024.
