Position: NSW Professional Development Coordinator (Part-Time)

Applications close: 15 December 2025

This position is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.

Are you passionate about artists’ rights, ethical practice and equity in the visual arts? Join NAVA’s small, ambitious team and help deliver a program that strengthens good practice across the visual arts, craft and design sector across NSW.

NAVA is seeking a self-motivated and organised arts worker to lead a professional development program grounded in the Code of Practice for Visual Arts, Craft and Design. This program delivers tailored workshops, events and resources to support artists, arts workers and organisations across metropolitan, regional and remote NSW. NAVA has recently secured funding to strengthen the program with a strong focus on Western Sydney, First Nations engagement, and accessibility.

You’ll work closely with partners and participants across the state to deliver both in-person and online learning initiatives, contribute to national fee-for-service programs, and help shape the next phase of NAVA’s outreach and sector development work. This is a hands-on role that includes programming, facilitation, logistics and relationship-building. You’ll be supported by a collaborative team and work alongside colleagues, including another NSW Professional Development Coordinator (1 day/week) and NAVA’s First Nations Outreach Coordinator (1 day/week).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering workshops and presentations about the Code of Practice
  • Developing new resources and professional learning materials
  • Coordinating logistics, risk and accessibility for all events
  • Liaising with partners, contributors and participants
  • Gathering and evaluating feedback to improve program delivery
  • Supporting the delivery of NAVA’s First Nations Policy, Reconciliation Action Plan and Disability Action Plan

Essential criteria:

  • Experience developing and delivering workshops, presentations or training
  • Strong communication, time management and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
  • Existing networks in the NSW visual arts, craft and/or design sectors
  • Based in NSW

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the Code of Practice
  • Experience with digital and hybrid event delivery
  • Basic AV and tech troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with grant writing or acquittals

Why work with NAVA

NAVA offers flexible working arrangements, a supportive workplace culture, and a benefits package designed to prioritise wellbeing. You’ll be part of a small and committed team working to advance fair conditions for artists and arts workers across the country. This is a rare opportunity to make a tangible impact - not only at NAVA, but across the visual arts sector in Australia.
