Imperial Stockings is Annemaree Dalziel’s response to the Highland Clearances, submerged in Australia’s historic amnesia.
In the Highland Clearances (roughly 1760-1850), the politics of power, racism, commerce and greed displaced remote Highland and Island Scotland people. Thousands of ordinary Gaelic Scots carried cultural grief to colonial Australia.
Imperial Stockings is Annemaree Dalziel’s response to this forgotten story of origin, submerged in Australia’s historic amnesia.
Presented in partnership with Regional Arts NSW.
