Transforming Trash into Treasure: Chengdu Hosts China’s First International Upcycle Art Festival.
Chengdu, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and dynamic contemporary art scene, is poised to become a global beacon of sustainable creativity with the launch of the 1st International Upcycle Art Festival. Organised by NY20+ and spearheaded by the acclaimed Artistic Director, Dr. Nasser Palangi, an Australian Artist, this pioneering festival will take place from September to November 2025 at Chengdu’s NY20+ Art Village. In this hub, art, community, and sustainability intersect.
This year’s theme, “Trash to Treasure,” embodies the festival’s mission to challenge perceptions of waste and redefine discarded materials as vehicles for artistic expression. Bringing together **30 influential artists—15 from China and 15 from around the world—**the festival will transform recycled and sustainable materials into influential works of art spanning sculpture, installation, mixed media, fashion, and performance art. Artists, art lovers, and eco-conscious communities worldwide are invited to participate, witness, and contribute to this ground-breaking initiative.
