This Membership comes with 6 types of heavily discounted insurance including Public and Products Liability. It is exclusively available for professional visual artists, craftspeople, designers, curators, installers, registrars, conservators and arts administrators.

Insurance and Assessment Summary

NAVA Premium Plus Membership includes 6 types of insurance:

  • Public Liability
  • Professional Indemnity
  • Products Liability
  • Property in Custody or Control
  • Tenants Liability
  • Personal Accident

Before applying, please read the Factsheet and Professional Assessment Criteria to ensure this policy is right for you, noting it is exclusively available for professional visual artists, craftspeople, designers, curators, installers, registrars, conservators and arts administrators.

To qualify, complete and lodge an application which is assessed to determine your professional status. The application requires personal and work history details including an abbreviated curriculum vitae. Once professional status is determined, your information is given to our broker Local Community Insurance Services (LCIS). 

Applications currently take up to 10 working days to be processed. If your application is declined you will be refunded within 10 working days. A $20.00 administration fee is deducted from this refund. 

Open flame and kiln premiums

As of May 2023: 

  • Practitioners who use a kiln (in-person) are to pay $94. Click here to add to cart.
  • Practitioners who use an open flame are to pay $119. Click here to add to cart.
  • Practitioners using both of the above are to pay $119.

If applicants undertake any activities that include the use of a kiln or open flame, it is important to add the relevant premium; without appropriate coverage there is risk of policy cancellation. Premiums can be added to cart before or while completing your application.

Working at heights

This policy covers artists and arts workers who are undertaking activities up to 15 metres in height. This policy is not valid for those working greater than 15 metres. If you are working between five and 15 metres, you will need to disclose the details of the activity BEFORE undertaking any work at heights. This applies to every occurrence where you are working at heights. 

If you are working between five and 15 metres please email us at nava@visualarts.net.au with the details of the activity (height, date, type of work).
